Baby Lace

Baby Lace is a witch's broom dissectum, orange red in the spring, fading to green. It has very nice orange red fall color. The plant is somewhat delicate and needs some protection when young. It will mature to a ball around 3'.
Baby Lace Lexington
Lace Leaf
Baby Lace Lexington is probably a reversion from Baby Lace. It retains the coloration of Baby Lace, but has a much larger leaf and is more vigorous. Leaves emerge an orange red in the spring, fading to a medium green. Fall color is a bright orange red.
Baldsmith
Lace Leaf
Baldsmith is beautiful mounding laceleaf with apricot new growth, contrasting with its deep green mature leaves. Baldsmith is not red or green, and forms a third type of coloration with Orangeola and Watnong. Branching of Baldsmith is pillowy and airy, and is distinctive in the landscape.

Beni fushigi is a dwarf maple with intense red, deeply cut and twisted leaves. It has similar coloration to Shindeshojo; starting bright red and fading to a mottled green. Beni fushigi has nice red fall color. (Red wonder or Red mystery)

Beni gasa is a round headed red palmatum similar to Burgundy Lace in leaf. It will form a small tree to about 10 to 12'. Fall color is orange. (Red umbrella)

Beni hoshi is a dwarf maple with red star shaped leaves, fading to green in the heat of the summer. New red growth gives the plant a two toned look. Mature size will be about 5' by 5'. Fall color is yellow to orange. (Red star)
Beni kagami

Beni kagami is a vigorous red upright with deeply divided leaves. Spring growth is a garnet red, maturing to a purple red. This is a strong growing tree, probably to 20'. Fall color is crimson. (Red mirror)
Beni kawa
Upright
Beni Kawa is similar to Sango kaku. It has beautiful red winter bark and is more round headed than Sango kaku's vase shape. The winter bark is more of a true red when compared to the Sango kaku's coral bark. The choice between the two varieties is best judged by the shape desired in the landscape.

Beni komachi is a dwarf plant similar to Beni fushigi, but slower growing. It has brilliant red, twisted leaves in the spring, and is good for smaller spaces. Beni komachi is only 3 foot by 4 foot at maturity. (The red beautiful girl)
Beni kumo no su

Beni kumo no su is an extremely finely divided red laceleaf, similar to Red Filigree Lace. It does not hold its color as well, but is a much better grower. Beni kumo no su is a good lacefleaf limited spaces. (red spider web)

Beni maiko is a variegated upright, with brilliant salmon pink spring growth. It fades to a mottled green in summer. Beni maiko is a show stopper in the spring. It is similar to Shindeshojo or Otome zakura, but is a stronger grower. It has excellent bright red fall color. Beni maiko makes a plant as wide as tall (Red dancing girl)

Beni Otake is a red upright with bamboo like appearance. It has brilliant red linearlobum leaves in spring. Its color grows brighter as other varieties fade in heat. Beni Otake is more upright than Atrolineare. (Big red bamboo)
Beni shi en
Variegated
Beni shi en is a narrow upright grower with deeply divided leaves. Leaves are similar to Butterfly in variegation and changeable in color from deep purple to green. It holds its color well even in the south. Fall color is pinkish to garnet orange. (Red smoke)
Beni shichihenge
Variegated
Beni shichihenge is a similar plant to Butterfly, but the spring variegation is more orange red. It is more open growing than Butterfly's vase shape. Beni schishihenge is one of our favorites in its class. (Red transformation of lion)

Beni tsukasa is a variegated upright with brilliant salmon orange color in spring. The color fades to yellow and then green mottled with gold in the summer. Beni tsukasa is a somewhat slower growing than Beni maiko or Shindeshojo, but very distinctive in spring time. Beni tsukasa forms a plant as wide as tall, to approximately 14 foot at maturity. Beni ubi gohan is a compact semi-dwarf plant with red leaves. They fade somewhat in the summer, to the color shades of Oshio beni. Mature size is around 5 foot by 5 foot. It makes a good bonsai. (Red refined rice)
Berry Dwarf

Berry Dwarf is a flat growing dwarf, taller than kiyohime yatsubusa. Leaves are a medium green. Fall color is yellow orange and red. At maturity it will be about 4' tall by 10' wide.
Bewley's Red

Bewleys Red is a nice red laceleaf. However, it is not the red upright laceleaf it was supposed to be. Fall color is a good crimson red.
Bi hou

Bi hou is a new yellow bark variety of coral bark maple from Japan. Mature size is unknown, but probably similar to Sango kaku in form and size, It has great economic potential. Bi hou has excellent yellow to orange fall color. (Beautiful mountain range)
Bloodgood

Bloodgood is the classic red upright, holding a deep red color throughout the summer. Bloodgood is more upright growing than Emperor I. Probably more Bloodgood have been produced than any other Acer palmatum variety.
Bonfire

Bonfire is a beautiful dwarf maple with iridescent spring foliage. It is somewhat delicate, but worth the effort. Mature is size about 8 feet. Bonfire is a California favorite.
Brandt's Dwarf

Caperci Dwarf is a horizontal growing dwarf maple, similar to Kiyohime yatsubusa. Spring growth is a light pink in color. It will grow to 8 foot wide by 4 foot high in ten years.
Burgundy Lace
Upright
Burgundy Lace is a red upright with deeply cut leaves. It holds good red summer color. It makes a nice round specimen as wide as tall. Suminagashi has similar leaves but is more upright and has greener bark than Burgundy Lace.
Butterfly
Variegated
Butterfly is a variegated upright with pink variegation on the edges of sickle shaped leaves. The variegation fades to cream in the summer. The plant forms a distinctive upright vase shaped tree. Butterfly has pinkish red fall foliage.
