Microphyllum is a small leaf green Acer shirasawanum. It is upright when young, forming a smaller rounded trees as it matures. Fall color a bright blend of yellows and reds. Microphyllum compares to Junihitoe, but will make a larger tree.

Midori no teiboku (V Corbin) is spreading green laceleaf wider than tall. Foliage is coarser and a deeper green than Virdis, with distinctive saw tooth edging. Fall color is a pleasing yellow and orange. (Green Spreader)

Mikasayama is a rare small leaf Acer sieboldianum with fresh lime green leaves. Pubescence on spring foliage and twigs is noticeable. It makes a small sturdy tree to 15 feet. Mikasayama has fantastic yellow to red fall color.
Mikawa yatsubusa

Mikawa yatsubusa is an excellent green dwarf with leaves overlapping like shingles on a roof. It grows in an irregular shape with some branches more vigorous than others giving the plant a distinctive alien like look. Fall color is orange and red.
Mimaye

Mimaye is a green upright Japanese maple of shorter stature. Leaves curl under to form tiny umbrellas. Mimaye will be as tall as wide to about 10 feet at maturity. Fall color is a nice orange.
Mizuho beni
Upright
Mizuho beni is a very similar plant to Katsura. It has colorful orange yellow spring foliage and yellow green foliage in the summer. It leafs out a week after Katsura and so is less likely to be damaged by spring frost. Mizuho beni will make a small tree as wide as tall, probably to 12 feet.
Momenshide

Momenshide is an upright green palmatum with leaf lobes divided all the way to the base resembling separate leaves. This gives the plant a distinctive feathery look. It is similar to Koshimino but a fuller and better grower, to about 12'. Fall color is a yellow orange.
Monroe
Upright
Monroe is an Acer circinatum with green deeply divided leaves, reminiscent of Fernleaf. Branches are stiff and upright. Mature height is only about 12' but considerably wider. Monroe has distinctive white flowers in early spring.
Moon Shadow

Moon Shadow is a pretty green palmatum as wide as tall to about 12'. Spring foliage is orange and yellow, maturing to a bright green. Fall color is yellow and orange.
Moonfire

Moonfire is a red upright, somewhat more spreading than Bloodgood. It holds a deep red all summer. Branches are gray, black and sinuous. Moonfire will be only 12 foot tall by 15 foot wide at maturity. It has nice crimson fall color.

Moonrise (Minori no tsuki) is a new Acer shirasawanum introduced by Carl Munn. It is a much better grower than Aureum and has distinctive pink red spring foliage. Mature height is unknown but probably in the 12 to 14' range. Fall color is an excellent orange red. (Harvest Moon)

Murasaki kiyohime
Dwarf
Murasaki kiyohime is a flat growing dwarf maple, wider than tall. Foliage is a deep green with purple tips on new growth. Murasaki kiyohime is a flatter version of Shishiohime.
Nishiki momiji
Upright
Nishiki momiji is a green upright palmatum. Its new growth is orange red and twisted. Leaf color fades to green as the leaf matures. It has excellent orange and red fall color. Nishiki momiji forms a spreading crown, wider than tall to about 12 feet.
Nuresagi

Nuresagi is a formal red upright palmatum with stiff upward branching. It will grow to 18 foot tall but only 10 foot wide. It holds red purple color throughout the summer. Nuresagi has garnet red fall color. (Wet heron)

Octopus is a vigorous red mounding laceleaf. Spring growth is a pink red, becoming a darker purple red as the season progresses. Fall color is a bright crimson.
Ogurayama

Ogurayama is a medium sized Acer sieboldianum with light yellow green spring foliage, changing to a medium green in the summer. It has silver pubescence on twigs and early spring foliage. It has a softer outline and foliage than Lovett. Ogurayama has excellent orange and red fall color.
Okagami
Upright
Okagami is a large growing red upright tree with a strong structure. It has beautiful purple red foliage which fades to a mix of red and green in heat of summer. Okagami will make one of the larger palmatum varieties, probably over 20 feet. (Big mirror)
Oku kuji nishiki
Dwarf
Oku kuji nishiki is the dwarf version of Butterfly. It has the scalloped shaped variegation, and the branching of the Butterfly types but is smaller growing. Mature size will probably be around 8 feet.
Okushimo
Upright
Okushimo is a vase shaped green palmatum. Leaf lobes curl upward forming a tapered tube. Okushimo retains its narrow vase shape at maturity and is suitable for small spaces. It has beautiful gold fall color. (The pepper and salt leaf)
Omato
Upright
Omato has nice bright pink and red spring growth which fades to a deep green. Ogon sarasa will grow to be a large sized maple, around 20 feet. Its fall color is a good orange and red. (Gold calico cloth)
Omurayama
Upright
Omurayama is the weeping willow form of Japanese maple. Omurayama has deeply divided green leaves, and does not show its pendulous habit at a young age. It has excellent orange fall color, and will grow to about 15 feet at maturity. (Omure mountain)
Orange Dream
Upright
Orange Dream's leaves emerge orange in the spring, and it retains a yellow color well into summer. Orange dream leafs out after Katsura, and so it avoids late frosts. It needs some supplemental water to thrive in the landscape. Orange dream makes a pretty small plant to only about 10 feet.
Orangeola

Orangeola is a weeping dissectum with bright orange red spring foliage. Leaves fade to a rich red green in the summer. A second flush of orange leaves gives the plant a two toned effect. Fall color is a fiery orange red.

Oregon Fern is a laceleaf version of Acer japonicum. It is a more horizontal and slower growing than Green Cascade. Fall color is an excellent orange and red.
